German Report on Celtic & Rangers 1988 (Part 1). Auf Deutsch.
Переглядів 8 тис.15 років тому
Part one of two - this is a German TV Report on Celtic & Rangers. From a programme called 'Sport Reportage' on the ZDF channel this was broadcast in October 1988 when Celtic were due to play Werder Bremen in the European Cup and Rangers were to play Koln in the UEFA Cup. The programme is in German, obviously, but an interesting watch.

Was at all 3 games and fantastic memories when i didnt worry about money, mortgage, cost of living etc....just lived for Celtic and to see them pkay every weekend!
RIP Stuart gray 🍀🍀🍀
Amazing to find this. My aunt has this album and played at every family event throughout my childhood. It brings back great memories.
The crowd seem so happy 😂 think it was recorded around Lisbon 67😂 Brilliant.
Mr Glasgow
Ah the good old EBT years when they could sing what they wanted, still couldn’t beat the celts.
This reminds me of my grenpa
Rick Rescola, American Fighting Man.
Bobby Sands Irish Fighting Man🤗
@@hunnylurker7601 I remember when he died.
@@TheDustysix Yeah Dusty 6 ...100 thousand Fenians saluted his coffin and millions more around the world..he was the bravest of the brave ...Pat Magee let Maggot Thatcher know the score in Brighton '84🤗

I know it's heresy to say, but Stein was a bit over-rated. We lost too many finals under him, and the combination of the Feyenoord disgrace and the following season's thumping by Ajax suggests that he did not see the Dutch coming or responded inadequately.
Thank you for the memories Tommy, a Celtic legend.
Quality stuff. Mon the hoops
A nation once again
I was at this game , two mistakes really obvious one billy McNeil, second not playing goerge Connelly, and the whole team including jock stein for under estimating them and one positive point feyenord were a right good side, billy was generally exposed for his lack of pace, John Clark prevented or cleared up many a defensive potential mess many many times . Hail Hail
Jock Stein was over sentimental by including Bertie Auld in the team that night ; he was clearly not the player of old. Davy Hay remains adamant that if George Connelly had played from the start , Celtic might have won the match. Hindsight I suppose, but valid.
MR GLASGOW
fantastic thank you
The start of the new Celtic, and the slow death of the huns!
Was at this game as a 16 year old, was my first time in the traditional railway away end
I watched this game. Jimmy Johnston got hacked and kicked, every time he went forward with the ball, but it was just how those arseholes’ played the game. I still hate Athletico and if Uraquay lose I do not mind. Athleticio have done good underdog recently, hate fades.
The wild colonial boy
Sounds like Alex Candid Cameron and Arthur Stramash Monford
Always liked Tommy
this game came to my mind after the recent game atletico played against chelsea in the CL, seems they haven't changed their style in 50 years. every week you see the list for most fouled players in the premiership, they don't know what a foul is when compared to this game where they should have been thrown out and celtic awarded the tie, i was 12 when this game was played, watching it in a household of blue noses and me the solitary, no, i'm a man utd fan, who knows if i'd seen junky when i was five and not the actual king, denis law then i might have supported, no, i'd need to leave the west coast of scotland first. it's never a bad day when you can remind yourself that you witnessed genius in your lifetime, it was a 1 - 1 draw at parkhead against aberdeen, caeser scored an own goal from a joe harper crossed ball, butt i got to see him play, genius, a £200 million player in the modern game
A brilliant tournament played in a brilliant spirit during a brilliant time. The 1990s just felt so much simpler. Proper football, proper fans, proper socialising. How I miss it.
I was brought up in a Rangers supporting home and even attended a couple matches with my dad in the 1990s at Ibrox when I was a child. However, football holds no real interest to me broadly. I would be a liar if I said I didn't retain at least a small bias towards Rangers haha! However, I greatly admire Fergus McCann for the way he came in and saved Celtic. He truly put his money where his mouth was. His integrity and money sowed the seeds for the later success for Celtic. The moment the previous board began treating the fans with disdain, their days were rightly number. When you lose the fans' support, you are need to acknowledge that or get out the way. Fergus came in, did his job and then some, and left - football and legacy assured at Celtic. It may be a controversial thing to say, but I am glad he saved Celtic. Obviously there are toxic elements in Scottish football and the Old Firm, but I also believe there are good natured fans of both teams and all teams. Fergus deserves great credit.
This was my dad's song
these days they would have been banned, animals pure & simple, rumour has it one of glasgows finest (police officer) gave one of their players a right hook in the tunnel at the end of the game.
Jim in goal 😅😅😅😅 40 year old keeper in the most important match ever... Yeh sounds like a good idea.
E ainda falam que o futebol escocês é violento e fugiam do times sul americanos ao alegarem que são violentos e parabéns ao Glasgow Celtic por tem um grande time nessa época
☘️☘️☘️
Lovely mix of Irish/Scottish songs...mind seeing a vid wae Glen Daly Frank Carson and Jock Stein together.
"he's a big boy" :-)
Not Evan Williams finest hour at the penalty shoot out... He looked unfocused
One of the most memorable matches ever 😂🏴⚽️
Was the one and only celtic game i was ever at & it was a good one. I was only in Glasgow for the beer mind you.
Celtic should have been in the final the following year after been kicked off the pitch by athletico
Thankfully a couple of Celtic players paid these cowards back in the tunnel.
Thats quite a lot of noise from the Airdrionians fans, then again these were the real days when towns actually follwed their clubs. Gallus.
Atletico Madrid, dirty cheating bastards,,,,
A thoroughly good man. Honest as the day is long and loved his football club. It's very rare to find guys like him in the game anymore.
Would sit with my dad and listen to Glen Daly....Great days....
This was the music we were brought up on love glen Daly my papa taught me these songs happy times
The maestro
Bueno, bueno... ciertamente el Atlético sacudió un poco de estopa en Glasgow pero tampoco es para tanto, el árbitró expulsó a dos jugadores en una época donde las tarjetas rojas casi nunca se sacaban. Well, well... ok, certainly Atlético players were a bit too rough in this match, battering the legs of Celtic players now an and then. But the referee showed the red card thrice, something that was hardly seen in those times.
67 to 70, Celtic where the best club in the world simply because they played the best football, to be the first in Britain to win the European Cup, and with a team of scots was a remarkable achievement by any standards, I don't think even Real Madrid have won it with 11 spaniards in the team
Real Madrid won the 1966 European Cup against Partizan of Belgrade (2-1) with 11 Spanish players, no one foreign, the same as Celtic did in 1967.
Benfica won two EC with 11 portuguese players.
@@pacofierro9281 Did De Stefano play in that final an Argentinian
@@portorico2319 No, DiStefano was no longer playing in Real Madrid at that time, in 1964 he left Real Madrid to play with R.C.D. Español of Barcelona, he would retire in this club in April 1966. Only one player who had won the previous Real Madrid 5 European Cups played and won the sixth, Paco Gento, so far the player with more European Cup/Champions titles in history.
Man Utd were better 67-70.
I was in Kusadasi, Turkey, with my girlfriend at the time, Tracy Paton. I miss Tracy.
My mother had this album when I was a kid, this was my favourite song. We lived just 300 yards from the Ashfield Club in the 1970s. Memories.
The east end of glesga is fulla WILD COLONIAL BHOYS🎶🎶🎶🎶
Does anyone remember Rod Stewart drunkenly announcing Atletico as "Team of the Year" on the BBC awards show? (Sports Personality of the year, I think). He screwed up his piece of paper and held it out to Frank Bough to get rid of for him, but Frank maturely ignored him! I think that was the night he met Britt Ekland too, as she was there in some capacity.
Atletico Madrid, dirty scum,,,,,,
